On April 17, within the framework of the European Conference taking place in Athens, President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma met with Secretary General of the UNO Kofi Annan.

The parties discussed cooperation between Ukraine and the United Nations Organization. Kofi Annan noted Ukraine's active participation in the UNO. He also highly evaluated Ukraine's peace keeping activity in settlement of the problems facing the UNO and the world community. "The UNO counts on Ukraine in post-war reconstruction of Iraq," said Secretary General of the UNO.

Kofi Annan thanked the Head of the Ukrainian State for the timely proposition concerning treatment and rehabilitation of Iraqi children in Ukraine's patient care institutions and sanatoriums.

During the conversation they also discussed other proposals concerning provision of humanitarian aid to post-war Iraq by Ukraine.

The UN Secretary General expressed satisfaction with his latest visit to Ukraine and thanked Leonid Kuchma for organization of the visit and hospitality.
