Return
to an Address of the Honourable the House of Commons
POSTSCRIPT D6.485 As was the case in respect of ELAs made during the pre-ceasefire period, *918 the ELAs made after the cease-fire to which I have specifically referred under the foregoing headings have been selected because they appeared to me to merit particular attention. For example, the ELAs relating to machine tools were relevant to the prosecutions referred to in my terms of reference. In other instances the manner in which the ELAs referred to were dealt with provides some insight into the decision making process of the government departments involved in the licensing process. It should, again, be noted that the ELAs which I have selected for comment are only a small proportion of the ELAs dealt with over the period following the cease- fire. A full list of the applications dealt with is set out in Annex A of the Appendix to the Report. *919
Endnotes: *918 - see D2.2 supra *919 - The List of Export Licence Applications for Iraq 1984-1990 drawn up and supplied to the Inquiry by the DTI Scott Inquiry Unit
