Statement by
Spokesman of Ministry of IRAQI MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS March 14, 2003
1. IAEA Inspection Team: Left Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:40 a.m., led by the Canadian inspector Brice, the team made a radiological survey for Al-Obeidy area included sites belonging to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, military units, industrial locations and some residential places. The survey took about one and a half hour. The team returned to the Hotel. 2.
UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Missiles): A.
Group I: Left Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:40 a.m. , led by the
French inspector Jacque, the group reached the Technical Battalion in
Al-Taji area. It supervised the destruction process of 4 Al-Soumoud
missiles/2 altogether with 7 warheads and 14 fuel tanks. The visit took
about 3 hours and 40 minutes. Then the group returned to the Hotel. B.
Group II: Left Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m. ,led by the Argentinean
inspector Kostafo, the group reached Al-Karama State Company. It supervised
the transportation of warheads to the destruction site in Al-Taji area
and also made an inventory for the documents of Al- Soumoud missiles/2
in order to wear out those documents. Then the group made a tour in the
store of the half manufactured items and familiarized itself with the
parts and moulds of the missiles Al-Soumoud/2. The visit took about 3
hours and 30 minutes. The group returned to the Hotel. 3.
UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Chemical): The
team left Al-Qanat Hotel at 10.00.m. ,led by the Polish Kris Strello,
the team reached the cancelled site of Al-Muthna of Tarik State Company.
The team supervised the destruction of some equipment . Then the team
made a tour included the entire site. The visit took about
1 hour and 30 minutes, then, the team returned to the Hotel. 4.UNMOVIC
Joint Inspection team (Mosul): This
team left Nineveh Palace Hotel at 9:00 a.m. ,led by the German Deter Roothbakher,
the team reached Sinjar area ,observed the destroyed missile launcher
and photographed it . The inspection took about 1 hour, then the team
returned to Nineveh Hotel.
5.Reconnaissance
Airplane/Mirage : Reconnaissance Airplane, type Mirage/4 entered Iraqi airspace at 10.45 a.m. and at 12.25 a.m., left Iraqi airspace during which reconnoitered various areas of Iraq. The reconnaissance process lasted for one hour and 40 minutes.
