Statement
by Spokesman of Ministry of Foreign
1.
IAEA Inspection Team:
Group I: Headed by (Robert Kelly), an American inspector, the group
set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:15 a.m., and arrived at the State Company
for Systems / Ministry of Industry. The group held a meeting with the
Manager and asked about the number of the workers, structure and present
activities. Then, the group toured all sections of the Company. The visit
lasted for (4) hours, after which the group went back to the Hotel. Group
II: Headed by (George Hilly), a Canadian inspector, the group set
out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:10 a.m. Using devices carried on a vehicle
and by hand, the group carried out a radiological survey which covered
several areas and offices, also included the Atomic Energy Site in Jurf
Al-Naddaf. The survey lasted for (3) hours and (40) min., after which
the group went back to the Hotel. 2.
UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Missiles): Group I: Headed by (Timal), a Turkish inspector, the group set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m., and arrived at the Technical Battalion in Al-Taji area. The group observed the destruction of (6) missiles (Al-Soumoud-2) and (11) warheads. This activity lasted for (4) hours and (30) min., after which the group went back to the Hotel. Group
II: Headed by (Jack), a French inspector, the group set out from Al-Qanat
Hotel at 8:30 a.m., and arrived at Al-Fateh Factory, which belongs to
Al-Karama State Company. The group took stock of the items belonging to
Al-Soumoud-2 missiles in order to move them to Al-Taji for destruction.
The visit lasted for (3) hours and (40) min., after which the group went
back to the Hotel. Group
III: Headed by (Nozad), a Turkish inspector, the group set out from
Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m., and arrived at Al-Qaqa State Company. The
group held a meeting with the persons in charge of the Company and asked
them about the declarations regarding the dual fuel factory and checked
the confirmity of the declaration. Then, the group put adhesive tapes
on the tags fixed on the warheads of Al-Soumoud-2 missiles in order to
protect them against heat. The visit lasted for (3) hears, after which
the group went back to the Hotel. 3.
UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Chemical): Headed
by (Patrick), a French inspector, the team set out from Al-Qanat Hotel
at 9:00 a.m., and arrived at Tadmor Company for Tanning / private sector.
Upon its arrival there, the team found that the Company had stopped its
work since a year and a half ago. The team asked the workers about the
stored chemical materials and visited all the sections. The visit lasted
for an hour, after which the team went back to the Hotel. 4.
UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Biological): Headed
by (Rostek), a Dutch inspector, the team set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at
8:00 a.m. and arrived at the shells destruction site in Al-Aziziya area.
The team numbered both the complete and the destroyed shells and collected
them in one place. The visit lasted for (4) hours, after which the team
went back to the Hotel. 5.
UNMOVIC Joint Inspection Team (Baghdad): Headed
by (Khozie), a Chilean inspector, the team set out from Al-Qanat Hotel
at 8:00 a.m., and arrived at the Aerial Weapons Testing Field, which belongs
to Saddam Airbase. The team held a meeting with the persons in charge
of the site and asked them about the number of the workers and the last
experiment made in that site. The visit lasted for an hour, after which
the team went back to the Hotel. 6.
UNMOVIC Joint Inspection Team (Mosul): Headed by (Roman Afmenof), a Russian inspector, the team set out from Nineveh Palace Hotel at 9:00 a.m., and arrived at the Arab Gulf Limited Company for Envelops (private sector). The team asked about the activities, production, quantity of paper used and productive capacity. It is worth noting that the Company is specialized in producing letter envelopes. Then, the team visited the production line. The visit lasted for one hour and ten min., after which the team went back to the Hotel.
