A statement by Spokesman of Ministry of Foreign Affairs
on (UNMOVIC),(IAEA) activities

IRAQI MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

February 27, 2003

 

1.  IAEA Inspection Team:

A-group I: It set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:40a.m, headed by the Norwegian Stanyer, and arrived at the State Company for Electrical Industries of the MIC in Alwazeerya area. The group inspected the companies' facilities where the inspectors verified the labeled machine as well as its seal. The inspection went on for 2.30h, and then the group went back to the Hotel.

B-Group II: It set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:40a.m, headed by the Canadian Victor. The group made a radiological survey by apparatus mounted on a vehicle for the warehouses of Alsaqlawya Project which belongs to Alqaqa State Company and for a desert area, located at Alanbar Province and the MICs' Tareq State Company as well. The inspection took about 2.30h. and then it returned  to the Hotel.

2. UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Missiles):

  It set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:40a.m, headed by the Bangladeshi (Mohammed Saif Alislam). The group arrived at Dawoud Ikhwan Bureau\private sector. The inspectors held a meeting with the Bureau's Director inquiring about the concluded contracts with the MIC companies. The group demanded to check the contracts as the inspectors checked the computer in the Bureau. The inspection went on for (3) hours, and then the group returned  to the Hotel.

3. UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Biological):

Group I: it set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30a.m, headed by the American (Roko). The group arrived at the Researches Center for the Veterinary Drugs Production of the MI. the inspectors held a meeting with the Center's officials, inquiring about the projects researches and cooperation with other medical bodies. The inspection lasted for an hour, and then the group went back to the Hotel.

Group II: It set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m, headed by the English (Roger). It arrived at Al-Azizya site for bombs destruction where the group got acquainted with the current digging process as the inspectors viewed the bombs that were extracted. The inspectors weighed the fragments and accounted the bombs as well. The inspection went on for 4.30h, and then the inspectors went back to the Hotel.

4. UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Chemical):

Group I: It set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:00a.m, headed by the Austrian (Harold Marhold). It arrived at Almuthanna installation site, which was abandoned. The inspectors viewed the (155) bombs perforation process that was carried out by  Iraqi technitians who cleared them out from the materials as well. The visit went on for 5.30h, and then the group went back to the Hotel.

Group II: At 9:30a.m, two helicopters took off from Al-Rasheed Airport, headed by the English Steve Alenson. The group arrived at the North Refineries Company in Beji. The inspectors inquired about the changes since 1998, the total laborers and the Company's branches. The group visited the storages and the water processing &central control unit. The visit lasted for 5 hours, and then the group went back to the Hotel.
