A statement by Spokesman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs on (UNMOVIC),(IAEA) activities

IRAQI MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

1. Interviews:

The IAEA asked to make individual interviews with two Iraqi specialists in one of Baghdad’s Hotels. The NMD informed the involved specialists with the set time and date of their interviews as the officials of the NMD encouraged them to do so. The interviews were carried out and each one of them documented his interview verbally on tape. The first interview lasted for 2:25 hours, where as the second one went on for fifty minutes.

2. UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Missiles):

The team set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:30 a.m., consisting of (2) inspectors and headed by the American inspector (Pall Clifford). The inspectors arrived at Al-Musayab Electricity Station which belongs to the Electricity Board. Right after their arrival to the site, they visited the fuel tanks that are used for operating the station as they got themselves acquainted with the gates that are dedicated for inserting these tanks, and their emergency exists. Also, the team overlooked the thickness of the reinforced concrete that the gate is made of, as well as measuring of these tanks.

The inspection went on for (2) hours, and then the team went back to the Hotel.

3. UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Biological):

At 10:00 a.m., an UNMOVIC airplane took off from Al-Rasheed Airport with (4) inspectors on board, headed by the American (Eric). The team made a reconnaissance over two sites, the first is Al-Ishaqi dairy production site (private sector), in Al-Dijail area. The second is the Insecticide Factory that belongs to Al-Tariq State Company, one of the MIC’s companies, 100km north of Baghdad. The team used video cameras and also took photos during their reconnaissance.

The reconnaissance lasted for an hour and a half, then went back to Al-Rasheed Airport.
