February 15, 2003 1.
IAEA Inspection Team: A. Group I: The
team consisted of (8) inspectors and led by (Fel Kolested), (English).
It set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m., and arrived at Al-Tuwaithah
site which belongs to the Atomic Energy Commission. The
group inspeceted the destroyed Tamuz Reactor building, the specialists
of the team made a tour climbing down 10.5 meter in depth by using cords
for this purpose and acquainted themselves with the nitrogen–guides of
the reactor itself, then, they visited the building of radiation waste
processing. The visit was concluded after six hours. They returned to
the Hotel. B. Group II: It
consisted of (3) inspectors headed by (Maudro), (Canadian). It set
out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m. They conducted radiological survey
to storages and sites located at Khan-Dhari area, west of Baghdad. The
radiological survey completed after about two hours and half and the goup
returned to the Hotel. C. Group III: It
consisted of (4) inspectors headed by (Martin) (Austrian), it set out
from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:40 a.m., and arrived at the Air hilecopter engine
repairing of the Ministry of Defense.It conducted an inspection tour to
the facilities of the plant asking questions about the utility of the
plant, the quality of the engines, whether there are rediation sources
at the plant and the electricity power.
The team finished its inspection process after about three hours and returned
to the Hotel. 2.
UNMOVIC inspection Team (Biological): A. Group I: It
consisted of (5) inspectores, headed by (Arik), (American), it set out
from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m. The team arrived at the College of Agriculture–University
of AL-Anbar, Al-Ramadi city. It visited the laboratories of the College
and the Dairy Plant which belongs to the College and asked about the post-graduate
studies and the researches of the agricultural diseases and microbiology
as well as the number of the staff and the students. The
visit ended after two hours and a half, and the team returned to the Hotel. B. Group II: The
group consisted of (4) inspectors, headed by (Philip), (Australian). It
set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:30 a.m., and arrived at Saddam Company
for Biological Research which belongs to Baghdad Univlesity and also the
College of Science–Saddam University. The group visited the laboratories
of the first site and acquainted themself with the instruments and those
requiring to be moved to other places. As regard the second site, the
group visited Chemistry Dept., and asking about the nature of the work
of the biochemistry laboratory, the enzim inhibitions and the cooperation
with hospitals. The inspection finished after one hour and quarter, the
group returned to the Hotel. 3.
UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Missiles): A. Group I: It
consisted of (7) inspectors, headed by (Jacque) (French), it set out from
Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m., and arrived Salah Al-Deen State Company which
belongs to Military Indusriliazation Commission, located 120km north of
Baghdad. The group held a meeting with those who are in charge of the
Company and asked about the production of the parts of the missiles AL-Sumood
or AL-Fatih, the structure of the Company, the number of the staff. The
group toured the facilities of the company. The visit finished after four
hours and the group returned to the Hotel. B. Group II: It
consisted of (6) inspectors and headed bt (Muhammed Saif AL-Islam) (Bangladish).
It set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m., arrived at the Precision
Foundary Plant which belongs to 17 Nissan Co. of Military Industriliazation
Commission. The group held a meeting with those who are in charge of the
factory and asked questions about the pieces produced for AL-Sumood missile,
the torbin fans of the AL-Sumood missiles and the materials used in the
factory. It visited the workshops of the factory and all the facilities.
The visit was concluded after three hours and the group returned to the
Hotel. C. Group III: It
consisted of (4) inspectors, and headed by (Kenith), (American), it set
out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:45 a.m., and arrived at the State Company
of AL-Nida of the Military Industrialization Commission. The head of the
group asked to hold a meeting with those who are the Company to
check the declarations and to seek clarification on the production of
mixers, the materials used for this purpose and the affiliated companies
to AL-Nida Co. inspected three buildings. The visit continued for about
two hours and a half and the group returned to the Hotel. 4.
UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Chemical): One
helicopter, on its board (10) inspectors, led by (Shain) (English), took
off from AL-Rasheed Airport at 8:30 a.m. , arrived at AL-Basrah
Refinery which belongs to Ministry of Oil. The group asked to hold a meeting
with those who are in charge of the Refinery and sought clarification
about the number of the staff, the number of laboratories, the number
of those who of B.A or M.A. degrees, whether there had been changes since
1998, and what are the new received equipment. The team toured the laboratories,
storages and the buildings. The team concluded mission after three hours
and returned to the Hotel. 5.
UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Joint): A
helicopter took off from Al-Rasheed Base with (4) inspectors on board,
at 8:00 a.m. It arrived at the Al-Hadar site, south of Mosul. It combined
with the the joint UNMOVIC inspection team which moved from Mosul heading
for the same site. 6.
UNMOVIC Inspection Team in Mosul (Joint): It
set out from Nineveh Palace Hotel at 8:30 a.m., consisting of (12) inspectors
and headed by the British (Tony). The team arrived at AL-Hadar site where
it was joind by the UNMOVIC inspecton team in Baghdad. The team met with
the unit commander, checking the site’s map. then, The team inspected
the site’s buildings, storages, shelters, containers & blocks of ammunition
as well as the yards and open areas between the stores. The visit lasted for (6) hours, and the team went back to the Hotel.
