A statement by Spokesman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs on (UNMOVIC),(IAEA) activities

IRAQI MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

February  10, 2003

1- UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Chemical):

Group I:

   The group set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m., consisting of (6) inspectors, headed by the English inspector (Kollfield). It arrived at Um-Alma’arek State Company and Bader State Company (both of them belong to the MIC), 28km north of Baghdad. The group checked the tagged equipment and the seals, took pictures and acknowledged the activities of both companies.

   The visit lasted for three hours, and then the group went back to the Hotel.

Group II

   The group set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m., consisting of (3) inspectors, headed by the Canadian inspector (Donald). It made a radiological survey( portable equipment) of some agricultural areas in Al-Dora district, some military unites, the Iraqi Company for Meat Production and Marketing(co-ed sector) and Al-Dora live stock slaughter.

   The visit lasted  for (4) hours, and then the group went back to the Hotel.

2- UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Chemical):

   The team set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:45 a.m., consisting of (8) inspectors, headed by the British inspector (McCmahoon). It arrived at Sab’aa Nissan storages of the Agriculture Supplies Company in Jurf Al-Naddaf area in Baghdad.

   The team met with the storages Director in which the inspectors inquired about the total number of the employees and the number of those who has B.A among them. Also, it inquired about the most significant changes that took place in the site since 1998 and the sources that provide the site with the local and the imported insecticides. The team visited all the storages.

   The visit lasted for three hours, and then the team went back to the Hotel.

3. UNMOVIV Inspection Team (Joint) \ Baghdad:

   The team set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:00 a.m., consisting of (10) inspectors. it arrived at Al-Msayyab arsenals in Al-Msayyab district. The team met with the arsenals director  and inquired about the buildings, the total number of the arsenals and their types. The team inspected all the arsenals using chemical sensors and an x-ray device to inspect the (81mm) missile and took two samples of the said missiles.

   The visit lasted for five hours, and the team went back to the Hotel.

4. UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Joint) \Mosul:

   The team set out from Nineveh Palace Hotel at 9:00 a.m., consisting of (10) inspectors, headed by the Swedish inspector (Olah). It arrived at Al-Huairthya-Rabia Railway Project  and the seeds storages.

   The team met with the site's officials and inquired about the site’s real name, its subsidiary and whether there is a scheme used for charging and discharging the wagons. Then, the team visited all the site’s facilities. The visit lasted for an hour, then the team went back to the Hotel.

5. UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Biological):

Group I:

   The group set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:00 a.m., consisting of (5) inspectors, headed by an English inspector (Roger). It arrived at Al-Kut Military Hospital of the MD. The group made a radiological survey for the garden's site and used a device for detecting minerals .

   The visit lasted for (3) hours, then the group went back to the Hotel.

Group II:

   The group set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 9:00 a.m., consisting of (8) inspectors, headed by  inspector Razek (Holland). It arrived at Al-Ahrar Agriculture Section and Ma Bain Al-Nahrain Company in Al-Ahrar area, 150km south of Baghdad \ Al-Numanya district. The group inspected the buildings and the facilities of both sites.

   The visit lasted for (2) hours and the group went back to the Hotel.

6. UNMOVIC Inspection Team (Missiles):

Group I:

   The group set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:00 a.m., consisting of (4) inspectors, headed by the French inspector (Key). It arrived at Thou Al-Faqar Factory of Al-Rasheed State Company \ MIC in Al-Taji area, 35km north of Baghdad. The group met with the Factory Director in which the inspectors inquired Al-Fateh, Al-Nidaa and Ababeel missiles. The visit involved all the Factory's major workshops. The group also inspected the equipment and the stickers.

   The visit lasted for (5) hours, then the group went back to the Hotel.

Group II:

   The group set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:00 a.m. it arrived at Al-Mamoon Factory of Al-Rasheed State Company \ MIC, 50km south of Baghdad.

   The group made an interview with the factory's Director and the specialists, inquiring about the Factory’s activities and the declarations. Then, the group visited the buildings, the workshops and took pictures of some of the equipment.

   The visit lasted for (4) hours, then it went back to the Hotel.

Group III:

   The group set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:30 a.m., consisting of (5) inspectors, headed by the inspector Muhammad Saif Aldeen (Bangladesh). It arrived at Al-Motasem Military Airport of Al-Baker Air Base.

   The group made an a short meeting with the Airport Commander and inquired about the types of planes received by the Airport and the last test of the auto plane. The group inspected all the buildings.

   The visit lasted for two hours, then it went back to the Hotel.

Group IV:

   The group set out from Al-Qanat Hotel at 8:300 a.m., consisting of (4) inspectors, headed by the German inspector (Gerhareld). It arrived at Ibn Firnass State Company of the MIC, 20km north of Baghdad.

   The group visited all the planes manufacturing workshops and inquired about the planes descriptions.

   The visit lasted for (2) hours, then the group went back to the Hotel.
