Statement for Spokesman of Ministry of Foreign Affairs

   IRAQI MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

March 11, 2003

The Belgian government rejected the American pressures to expel an Iraqi diplomat at the Embassy of Iraq in Brussels, and decided not to yield to this matter. It declared that there is no justification for the expulsion of the Iraqi diplomat.

It is clear that Belgium has taken the decision out of its respect for its sovereignty and independence which indicates that world states are able to reject the American arrogance and schemes that are incompatible with the principles of international relations.

The state of isolation which the US suffers from and the rejection of its policy have pushed President Bush to violate international conventions and treaties and impose oppressive measures on 60 states to harm their cordial relations with Iraq.

The decision of the Belgian government is an example for the states that are proud of their independence and sovereignty far from US administration’s uncivilized and evil schemes.
