STATEMENT
BY THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN
AFFAIRS DEPUTY SPOKESPERSON FRENCH MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS September 9, 2002 Excerpt
Q - Does France have information about Iraqi attempts to obtain nuclear material as several official and non-governmental sources claim, in particular the IISS in London and U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney ? President Chirac answered that question this very morning in an interview published in the New York Times. I refer you to his comments which you will find on line on the Elysée site and in the Ministry's daily bulletin. Q - Is France working on a draft resolution with Britain and its European partners to demand the return of U.N. inspectors ? We confer regularly with our European partners and the Security Council members about Iraq. To my knowledge, no draft resolution has been circulated in the Security Council.
