VISIT OF BELARUS FOREIGN MINISTER TO ALGERIA BELARUS MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS June 4-6, 2003 The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Sergei Martynov will visit Algeria on June 4-6, 2003. The program of the visit includes meeting of Sergei Martynov with the Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, chair of the National People’s Assembly Kari Younes, foreign minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem, minister of trade Noureddin Boukrouh. Within the framework of the negotiations it is planned to discuss the extension of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. This visit is aimed at all-round development of Belarus-Algerian relations and creation of base for organization of summits in future. Diplomatic relations between Algeria and Belarus were established on October 24, 1995. In 2002 trade turnover between countries was about $16.5 million, there is no import to Belarus. Metal-roll, potash fertilizers and MAZ trucks account for the main part of the Belarusian export. There is only one enterprise with Algerian capital registered on the territory of Belarus.
