September 18, 2002

Bahraini Foreign Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa welcomed Iraq's decision allowing the return of the International arms inspectors.

Shaikh Mohammed described this move as important and positive as its came in response to Arab and International demands, calling for settling the issue of inspectors and its ramifications within the framework of the UN.

The Bahraini Minister voiced the hope that this step would lead to an organized cooperation between the UN and Iraq with complying to relevant international resolutions and ultimately lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq while also ending the hardship of the Iraqi people and sparing Iraq as well as the region any risks of any military action either in present or in future.
