TUWAITHA

According to the U.S. Defense Department, the Tuwaitha facility was the center of the Iraqi nuclear program before the 1991 Gulf War, the site of uranium enrichment research and development efforts aimed at producing nuclear-grade material. The site also contained a biological weapons research facility. The facility was bombed in 1991, but the International Atomic Energy Agency has evidence of some rebuilding efforts.
